Comedy Writing Bootcamp is a no-nonsense 6 week intensive push to help you create, develop and polish new material through writing exercises and in-class performance.

Our instructor's unique, organic process focuses on helping each student discover their own innate sense of humor by exploring their personal life experiences and observations. They then learn how to craft these “comic nuggets” into individual jokes, which are finally honed through in-class performance. By using this process you will learn the nuts and bolts of what it takes to create smart original material that you can take on stage and be proud of.

Each student is guaranteed the opportunity to perform at least 3 times during the course. (more if time permits)

Although students are strongly encouraged to write new material they can also use their time to work on existing material.

There is no graduation show for the Bootcamp.

Our instructor has been a working professional comedian for 40 years. He has lived and performed extensively in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and New York. He has Headlined at almost every Comedy Club in the US as well as thousands of Corporate events, Colleges, Benefits, Civic Events etc. Over the course of 14 international tours he performed throughout the UK, Europe and South Africa. He studied for 2 years at THE SECOND CITY in Chicago, instructed by some of the finest improvisors in the country including Stephen Colbert and Steve Carell. He has over a dozen TV credits including THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN.

Once in ‘06 Ross Bennett told me, after I bombed very hard, “you’re funny...but these people have no time for your cleverness. Get to the point.” That was huge. That rewired everything. Thank you Ross.
— John Mulaney, International Headliner
I recommend the MCS Comedy Writing Class with Ross Bennett. It was a great class that enhanced my stand-up comedy. I looked forward to every class. I would travel each week five and a half hours one way and back to attend class. Ross gave us assignments that strengthened my comedy writing skills. His critiques on our material was so helpful, and it helped me think outside of the box when approaching my stand-up. It was money well invested!
— Angela Moore, MCS alumna, Producer of The Moore Laughter Clean Comedy Shows, TV ONE - Wild N Out Wednesday segment on NewsOne Now w/Roland Martin
Uta Hagen, Constantin Stanislavski, Ross Bennett.  Only one is a great stand-up comedy teacher.  Not only does Ross teach the art of stand-up, but he also teaches the heart of stand-up.  He pushes his students beyond the first level of a joke.  “Make it personal, don’t go for the easy laugh,” he advises us.   Stand-up clubs can be pretty brutal places for beginners.  Ross creates a safe space to learn.
— Regina Silversmith, Producer, Host, Heart of the Matter, PCTV Columnist, The Journal News, Gannett Corp
If you want to learn comedy and learn it the right way, Ross should be your teacher. He is the amazing combination of critique, friend, mentor and he will push you to be honest with your craft. I have been getting many shows in a very short time, and everyone loves my material. I will always be thankful to Ross Bennet for giving a direction to my comedy.
— Jittin Nautiyal, former student
First and foremost, the class was fabulous and so is Ross. I have never written so much or been so inspired to write. Ross’s method, the class assignments, and the class layout were the perfect combination to kick start my creativity and help me hone my jokes. He listened to and heard my comedic voice and every bit of feedback and direction he provided was true to it! The ongoing feedback from Ross and from the class were invaluable. I am excited about my new material, the momentum I have, and look forward to applying the methods I learned. I cannot recommend Ross or this class enough!
— Leigh Schull, former student
I just wanted to write and say a huge thank you for the support you gave me and all of us both inside and outside of class. You’ve been terrific, well beyond what I expected... I’m so pleased to have been taught by you. The graduation show was amazing to watch, both in understanding what worked and what didn’t work for all of us, and I really liked seeing you perform the closing set.
