This class is limited to 15 students who have completed a Level 1 class at Manhattan Comedy School and are ready to take their stand-up to the next level.

This is a repeatable “workout room” designed to help you consistently build and refine your act.

On his way to becoming a professional comedian, Tom found that having a weekly room that responded like a true comedy club was essential. That ruled out open mics as a primary testing ground, since they tend to just reward misdirection jokes and vulgarity.

Every class includes stage time—followed by personalized feedback from the instructor.

The sessions are structured like a mini show hosted by Tom, with an audience that more closely reflects a real NYC comedy club—a mix of ages, backgrounds, and perspectives.

The class also includes mini-lectures on:

  • The 8 pitfalls to avoid

  • The 3 variables that determine whether a joke works

  • The 11 ways pros frame a bit

  • The 5 easiest ways to start a joke

  • The #1 tool for increasing laughs per minute

  • The 20 tips for taking and owning the stage

These concepts are worth hearing multiple times—you’ll pick up new layers as your material and instincts improve.

The class culminates in a live student showcase at a NYC comedy club!

I cannot say enough good things about Tom’s comedy mentoring. As a seasoned performer, he helped take my writing to a new level and opened up a whole new way to perform jokes. No matter what level of performer you are, Tom’s insight and coaching is so beneficial, especially if you are wanting a career in stand-up comedy!
— Natasha Price: Actress & Comedian, Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC)
I’ve always been skeptical of coaches, but I heard only the best things about Tom, so I thought I’d give it a go. I’ve been doing stand-up for 8 years, so I thought, ‘Will I learn anything new?!’ And spoiler alert, yes, I did! His approach to helping me understand the structure of the greats, was so helpful, providing some huge light bulb moments!
— Malorie Bryant: Actress & Comedian, Best of Fest @ Burbank Comedy Festival
Tom diligently went through my set and helped me to cut out a lot of unnecessary wording, eliminate weaker material, and punch up my jokes. He also offered valuable writing tips and has a wealth of knowledge. If you’re looking to tighten up and strengthen your set, I highly recommend his services!
— Jessica Silver: Comedian & 2x Finalist @ Laughing Buddha Comedy Festival, NYC
My coaching sessions with Tom were the most informative, helpful thing I’ve done for my comedy. He pinpoints exactly what’s missing in a bit and guides you to punch up the funny without losing your voice. Tom has mastery of the musicality, science, and craftsmanship of stand-up comedy and can train anyone to incorporate the tools and frameworks for stronger comedy. Tom’s coaching was an investment that continues to pay off at every performance.
— Joe Buccino: Comedian, D.C. Improv Comedy Club
Loved all the insight and coaching with Tom. He got me pumped with the challenge to work on my craft to kill. I was feeling stuck and Tom taught me techniques no one else has. He noticed performance habits to adjust to improve my set. And most importantly, he motivated me to stand in my power on stage. Wow! It’s like comedy coaching and therapy in one session.
— Cyndy Cecil: Comedian & Video Producer @ FOX, NBC, Showtime
