D.C. Benny’s style of telling autobiographical stories, inhabited by original characters, has been honed over his thirty-two years as a performer.
Benny's third appearance on NBC's “Showtime At The Apollo” has over fourteen million Youtube views, he has multiple stand up specials including Comedy Central Presents, and Dry Bar, was a top eight finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and has a cult following from his roles as Cesar in John Singleton’s “Illegal Tender”, and as “Chaz” on the soap opera “As The World Turns”. He also starred in national commercials for Verizon, Dell, Volkswagon, Wendy’s, AIG, and the Budweiser “How You Doin’?” superbowl campaign.
His underground comedic story-telling show, Urban Myth, became an New York staple, where performers such as Dave Chappelle, Cash Cab's Ben Bailey, Robert Kelley, Jim Gaffigan, Bill Burr, Kevin Hart, and Vic Henley all came to tell their funniest, true stories.
His comedy albums are on constant rotation on Sirius radio, and his personal essays, stories, and articles have been featured in New York Magazine, The New York Observer, Narratively, and Heeb Magazine.
When not touring, he offers private coaching for stand up comedy/storytelling, dividing his time between Brooklyn and Long Island's North Fork.
